NewsMINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian government is busy working out a package of documents to regulate sale of state property, Deputy Economy Minister of Belarus Alexander Yaroshenko told media on 8 February.
There will be a list of enterprises to be privatized and a list of strategically important enterprises that secure the development of the economy.
The official did not specify the enterprises in the list. “It includes production sector and communication enterprises, including MTS. The list is in the works,” he said. The documents are being prepared as a package and have been approved by the head of state.
Alexander Yaroshenko pointed out that in 2012 privatization should earn $2.5 billion in foreign direct investments. “We should have a look at mutually beneficial sides of these sales. There are no plans for mass privatization although $2.5 billion is quite a sum,” he said.
The package will include enterprises, which did not sell in 2011, and enterprises to be sold in 2012 and 2013. There will be a separate list of enterprises to be sold to earn $2.5 billion.
The documents are being worked on as a package to take into account national interests and the economic advisability of selling the enterprises for the sake of earning $2.5 billion and balancing the balance of payments, said Alexander Yaroshenko.
