The representatives of the Ministry of Economy participated in the 2nd Annual International Conference & Exhibition (AICE 2016) “Global Value Chain: Opportunities for Free Zones of the Future”

The representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Industrial Park Development Company CJSC participated in the 2nd Annual International Conference & Exhibition (AICE 2016) “Global Value Chain: Opportunities for Free Zones of the Future” (May 9-12, 2016, Dubai, UAE).

The event was organized by the World Free Zones Organization. The theme examined the opportunities and challenges that free zones are facing with regard to global value chains and the rapidly evolving global economic landscape, how free zones can tap into global value chains and attract investment.

The AICE 2016 programme consisted of plenary sessions, exhibition, workshops and regional Free Zone meetings over the full three-day period. It brought together more than 1000 world-class lineup of thought leaders, academics, policy makers, multi-lateral organizations and high profile business personalities from around 60 countries, who presented the latest research on the impact of free zones, and their role in regional and global value chains.

The World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), the multi-lateral and not-for-profit global association for free zones, was registered in Geneva and headquartered in Dubai, UAE, in May 2014 under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. The key objectives: support and promotion of free zones internationally; bring together free zones and interested organizations for knowledge exchange, education and training, networking and business development; improve the perception of free zones globally and position them as areas that make valuable contributions to the local economy and promote sustainable business; provide specialized operational, administrative, educational and networking services to Members, Partners and Observers.
